Description

The Moscow State Academic Operetta Theater is the first state theater in the USSR and is rightfully considered one of the symbols of operetta in many countries.

The building in which the Moscow Operetta is located was built in the nineteenth century and is an architectural monument. The official founding date of the theater is November 24, 1927. He replaced the work team of operetta artists that had been working since 1922. One of the founders of the theater was the Soviet artist, director and librettist Grigory Yaron.

Mosoperetta's repertoire is now very diverse; here you can hear both unforgettable classics and modern trends. During the existence of the theater, more than 250 different premieres were presented, and more than 300 performances are played each season, and each of them leaves only pleasant memories for the audience. Critics also always highly appreciate each of the productions.

The auditorium of the “Moscow Operetta” designed for 1,600 seats and includes a stall, benoir boxes, an amphitheater, a mezzanine and mezzanine boxes, balconies and boxes of the 1st and 2nd tiers. The hall is decorated in burgundy and gold tones and equipped with modern lighting and sound equipment. And, of course, it is in the auditorium that the world-famous decoration of the theater is located - the Plafond, painted by the artist Konstantin Korovin. It represents 12 portraits of Russian and foreign composers arranged in a circle: Glinka, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Rimsky-Korsakov, Mozart, Rubinstein, Dargomyzhsky, Bizet, Mussorgsky, Verdi, Borodin, Wagner.
