Mikhail Shufutinsky, an outstanding representative of the chanson genre, will perform at Lakhta Hall in St. Petersburg on October 3, 2025
The name of Mikhail Shufutinsky has long been associated with Russian chanson. Having started his career in Soviet restaurants and variety shows, he quickly became a favorite of the public thanks to his unique voice and ability to create songs that resonate with the hearts of listeners. In 1981, striving for new horizons and creative freedom, Shufutinsky moved to the United States. Emigration became both a challenge and an opportunity for him. Performing in American restaurants and clubs, he won the recognition of the Russian diaspora. It was there that his style, combining elements of Russian folklore, urban romance and chanson, finally took shape. The themes of his songs - nostalgia, love and life far from home - resonated with emigrants.
After the collapse of the USSR in the nineties, Mikhail returned to his homeland and immediately became incredibly popular. His concerts were sold out, and his songs became national hits. Compositions such as "September 3", "Jewish Tailor", "Night Guest" and "Palma de Mallorca" entered the golden fund of Russian chanson.
Shufutinsky's contribution to the development of this genre is difficult to overestimate: he not only popularized chanson, but also gave it a modern sound. Mikhail Zakharovich made this genre more accessible and understandable to a wider audience thanks to the sincerity of his songs.
In 1994, the album "Walk, Soul" was released, including the famous song "Third September". This composition became a symbol of autumn melancholy and separation. Igor Krutoy's music is memorable for its simplicity and evokes nostalgia, and Igor Nikolaev's lyrics convey deep emotions of separation. Shufutinsky's performance gives the song a special sincerity.
The date of September 3 has turned into an unofficial holiday for the artist's fans: social networks are annually filled with memes and parodies on this topic. The song continues to be relevant due to its universality - each listener can find something personal in it.
Mikhail Shufutinsky's concert in St. Petersburg will be a unique opportunity to enjoy his immortal hits, including the legendary "September 3", and also get acquainted with the artist's new works.
