Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev will meet in the ring for the third time to fight for the champion title

On the night of February 23, a rematch between Russian boxers Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol took place in Saudi Arabia. This fateful meeting was to decide the title of absolute world champion in the light heavyweight division. From the very beginning of the fight, Bivol took the center of the ring, effectively working with the jab and controlling the distance. Beterbiev, known for his power and aggressive style, tried to close the distance and impose his power boxing, but Bivol deftly avoided the attacks, demonstrating excellent footwork and defense. In the middle of the fight, Beterbiev managed to hit his opponent with several powerful punches, causing him to stagger. However, Bivol quickly recovered and continued to stick to his tactics, responding with accurate combinations. At the end of the fight, the initiative was on Bivol’s side, who looked fresher and more active than his opponent. The judges unanimously awarded him the victory, thus taking revenge for the previous defeat and becoming the undisputed world champion in the light heavyweight division. Following this triumph, Bivol took the championship belts from Beterbiev in February, inflicting the first defeat in his professional career. Now that he occupies a leading position in the world rankings and has championship titles, new prospects are opening up for him. In addition, Bivol has surpassed his opponent in the ranking of the best boxers regardless of weight category according to The Ring.

The third fight between Bivol and Beterbiev is coming up – for this fight, the champion has given up the WBA belt. The World Boxing Council (WBC) has ordered Dmitry to defend his title against the mandatory challenger, David Benavidez. He stressed that the title itself is not more important to him than the opportunity to prove his superiority over another champion. This decision came as a surprise to many experts and boxing fans. The athlete himself expressed disappointment with the WBC decision, but declared his respect for it. He also expressed confidence that he will be able to regain the title in the future. Now his main goal is to unify the remaining belts and confirm his superiority in the light heavyweight division.

Two Russian names continue to rapidly gain fame in the boxing world: Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol. Both are world champions in the light heavyweight category; both are undefeated; both strive to become the greatest fighters of all time. Artur Beterbiev is the epitome of power and relentlessness: 19 fights – 19 knockouts; he is the only current champion with this achievement. His ability to adapt to his opponent and find weaknesses makes him one of the best light heavyweights in the world; victories over Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Anthony Yarde confirm this. In contrast, Dmitry Bivol is a model of elegance and technical mastery: he is a defensive virtuoso with an incredible sense of distance and the ability to dodge punches; his style combines speed, precision and tactical flexibility. The victory over Saul “Canelo” Alvarez was a sensation and confirmed his high class; he also confidently defeated Joe Smith Jr. and Jean Pascal.
