Description
The Alexandrinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg is one of the oldest drama theatres that has survived in Russia. It is located next to the Catherine Garden. The venue's repertoire includes a large number of diverse performances based on works by classics and modern authors, so you will have plenty to choose from. You can buy tickets to the Alexandrinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg online on our website.
The Alexandrinsky Theatre has changed its name several times. It was the Maly, Russian, Leningrad Pushkin and Pushkin Theatres. The theatre received its new name in 1990. The Alexandrinsky Theatre is rightfully considered the cradle of Russian theatre art. The main premieres of Russian drama have taken place within these walls, and the most famous actors, directors and artists have worked there.
In 2003, Valery Fokin became the head of the Alexandrinsky Theatre. Under his leadership, the institution underwent a global reconstruction. The interiors acquired the appearance of the Pushkin era, and the stage became one of the most advanced in technical terms. In 2013, the New Stage opened here, where performances of various formats are held. They combine traditional theater and the achievements of modern art.
The Alexandrinsky Theater's repertoire is based on Russian and foreign classics. This is a huge field for activity. Actors and directors work hard to create bright, interesting productions for the audience. They manage to maintain the long-standing reputation of the troupe, which is considered one of the best in Russia and is constantly replenished with new talents.
