«Queen of Spades» is a performance created specifically for the troupe of the Leonid Yakobson Ballet Theater. The production was carried out by the Argentine choreographer Iñaki Urlezaga, who previously worked in Covent Garden. The performance premiered in 2019 and was dedicated to the anniversary of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin.

Iñaki Urlezaga independently adapted Pushkin’s story and created a rich and dynamic libretto. The musical basis for the performance was an edited version of Tchaikovsky's opera, written during his stay in Florence.

Performance "The Queen of Spades" personifies the austere landscape of the cold embankment, the rhythm of the cast-iron bars of the Summer Garden lattice and the illuminated northern sky. The costumes, designed by Franca Squarciapino, reflect the era of Pushkin, preserving the officers' epaulettes and young girls with bonnets.
