The ballet "Butoh on Novaya. Katsura Kan, a Zen master and dancing legend, continues to travel the world at the age of 70, uniting Butoh theater groups into a global network. His performances and workshops inspire and train new generations of dancers. Kan was born in Kyoto, the center of Zen Buddhism and Noh theater culture. He studied Japanese literature at the Kyoto University of Buddhism and Noh theater under the guidance of master Hirota Yukiyoshi. His collaboration with Tatsumi Hijikata, one of the founding fathers of Butoh, was an important stage in his career.
