Ballet «Yaroslavna» will be presented at the Dance Open festival on April 9 at the Alexandria Theater. This is a unique work, based on the literary monument of the 12th century - «The Tale of Igor’s Campaign», and written by composer Boris Tishchenko. In his essay, Tishchenko offers a new interpretation of the original plot and rethinks the genre.

In the score of «Yaroslavna» epic and dramatic elements are combined, and key fragments of the text of «The Tale of Igor’s Campaign» performed by a choir. This creates a unique atmosphere of the performance, where the choir talks about ancient events, comments on what is happening and transforms into the characters of the performance or the voice of nature.

Ballet «Yaroslavna» will be presented by the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater. The choreography for this performance was developed by Alexey Miroshnichenko, who is also the author of the new version of the libretto.
