Performance "Three Sisters" at the BDT named after G.A. Tovstonogov is a production based on the famous play by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. Director Vladimir Pankov brought a new interpretation to the classic work, viewing the events in the Prozorovs' house as a polyphony of human life in time. While preserving the original text and costumes from the early 20th century, the director emphasizes that the play takes place simultaneously in the past and present.

The peculiarity of the production is that the audience sees the main characters at two ages: young, as Chekhov described them, and adults who experienced the events of the play. Olga is played by People's Artist of Russia Elena Popova and Honored Artist of Russia Tatyana Aptikeeva. Masha is performed by Honored Artist of Russia Maria Lavrova, Honored Artist of Russia Ekaterina Tolubeeva, Karina Razumovskaya and Polina Tolstun. The role of Irina is shared by Lyudmila Sapozhnikova, Yulia Deinega and Alena Kuchkova.

The production is accompanied by live music, which plays an important role in the performance. Strings, winds and percussion instruments create the atmosphere, performing military marches and lyrical waltzes. Each character in the play has his own musical part, which adds depth and emotional richness to what is happening on stage.
