About event

I invite you to a phenomenal concert by the musicAeterna orchestra conducted by the talented Teodor Currentzis, which will take place in the beautiful State Chapel. On this spring evening you will be able to enjoy the performance of two majestic works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - the Requiem and Piano Concerto No. 24.

Requiem and Concerto No. 24 occupy a special position in the world of musical art. These compositions have become true symbols of world culture, and their influence on subsequent generations of musicians and creators has been continuously flowing for several centuries. The Requiem, which has a rich mythology behind it, goes beyond the scope of a musical work and becomes the basis for the creation of new masterpieces in literature, painting, music and cinema. Starting from Pushkin and his “Mozart and Salieri” and ending with Milos Forman’s film “Amadeus”, Requiem inspires and excites us to this day.

Both works, Requiem and Concerto No. 24, are shrouded in a unique atmosphere of dense drama. The piano concerto in C minor, written by Mozart during his work on the opera Le nozze di Figaro, sounds in the most tragic tonal mode for the composer. In this work, Mozart assigned himself the role of a soloist and did not write down the entire score, improvising brilliantly during the premiere. The piano concerto stands out for its unusual orchestral composition and long first movement. With its thematic nature, intensive development and emotional richness, it is one of the heirs of Mozart’s genius.

Work on the Requiem was interrupted by the unexpected death of Mozart, and the task of completing the work was transferred to other composers, including Franz Xaver Süssmayer and Joseph Leopold Eibler. When creating the Requiem, various original material was used, and this version is still the main one performed at concert venues. The Requiem evokes a variety of emotions and builds a connection with the myths surrounding its creation and the composer's final days. But beyond all this, the work itself remains great music that speaks to the listener in his native language and conveys emotions throughout the centuries.

Don't miss the opportunity to plunge into the world of musical magic and attend this unique concert of the musicAeterna orchestra in the State Chapel.
