Performance «Meyerhold, Alien Theater» at the Alexandrinsky Theater dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding director and reformer of the theater Vs. E. Meyerhold. The production is based on the transcript of the general meeting of the GosTIM team in December 1937, which took place after the publication of P. M. Kerzhentsev’s article “Alien Theater” in the newspaper "Pravda". This event marked the beginning of the destruction of the Meyerhold Theater and the director himself.

The performance presents a collective discussion and condemnation of Meyerhold by his troupe and theater staff. Personal dissatisfaction, creative differences and injured pride become the basis for claims against the Master. These motives are expressed directly and without mincing words, which makes the production rich and emotionally intense.

Real dialogues from almost a century ago recreate the atmosphere of documentary theater. Valery Fokin skillfully weaves scenes of Meyerhold's memories and fantasies into the fabric of the production. This allows us to raise the conflict to the level of generalizations, touching on issues of the relationship between the artist and society, the compromise between creative necessity and justice, as well as the artist’s responsibility to himself and his followers.
