People's Artist of Russia, laureate of the State Prize and a musician whose name is closely associated with the traditions of the Russian piano school – Denis Matsuev – became best known in the late 1990s. It happened after winning the International Competition named after Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The pianist considers the development of classical art in the regions of the country to be a priority direction of his creative activity, despite his high popularity abroad.

Matsuev – a versatile experimenter, which he repeatedly proved during his speeches. In 2017, he presented a new author's program called Jazz Among Friends. For his contribution to the development of the arts of the country, the musician was awarded the prestigious ICMA award in 2021.
