SKA is one of the leaders of the KHL. As a two-time winner of the Gagarin Cup, this team always takes to the ice with a full commitment to victory. At the end of the season, the club's management apologized to the fan community for such unconvincing results. In April 2024, Pavel Desyatkov took over as head coach, replacing Dmitry Ryabykin. Desyatkov headed a KHL club for the first time in his career. Previously, he coached Ryazan, Molot-Prikamye Perm, CSK VVS Samara and Sokol Krasnoyarsk.
