Andrey Prikotenko is an outstanding theater director whose productions have received international recognition. He is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the highest theater award of St. Petersburg, the Golden Sofit in 2002, and a special jury prize at the national Golden Mask award in 2003. His work has become a symbol of innovation and excellence in the world of theater.
In 1998, Prikotenko graduated from the St. Petersburg Theater Academy, where, under the direction of Professor V. M. Filshtinsky, he presented his first diploma performance, Sanya, Sanka, Alexander... His professional career began at the Oryol Academic Theater named after Turgenev, where he directed such projects as "Mowgli," "The Little Humpbacked Horse," and "Days of Our Lives."
His 2002 production of "Oedipus Rex" based on Sophocles earned him critical acclaim and the Golden Sofit award. His career subsequently continued to flourish thanks to such works as Moliere's comedy "Tartuffe," which received high praise at the Siberian Transit Festival.
From 2017 to 2023, Prikotenko served as chief director of the Old House Theater in Novosibirsk. In 2023, he became the head of the Red Torch Theater, and from 2024 he will be its artistic director.
