The drama "Okho" performed by musicAeterna Dance will take place on June 23 at 18:00 at the Perm Academic Theater-Theater as part of the Diaghilev Music Festival.

Art is never static. Creative research, reinterpretation of ancient traditions, the latest trends all together lead to the formation of new forms. Drama as a stage genre originated thousands of years ago, and dance has an equally ancient tradition. But if you add modern music to them, music created on the basis of precise mathematical calculations, then what can happen in the end?

Any guest of the Diaghilev Festival can buy tickets to the performance of musicAeterna Dance "Okho" and get acquainted with the physical drama staged by Vladimir Barnabas to the music of Yanis Xenakis. It will be performed by the musicAeterna Dance dance group consisting of 9 dancers with the support of the Moscow Percussion Ensemble. This band consists of virtuosos who perform unusual music for percussion. It is directed by Andrey Volosovsky, a former soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, an artist of the musicAeterna orchestra under the direction of Theodor Currentzis.

The guests of the Perm Theater-Theater will witness a journey and reflection without words. Chaos and Space, the Horror of Primevalness and the orderliness of Eternity, the incessant dispute of being and non-being, mind and feelings, the boundaries of the physical body and the transformation of actions into pure energy - all this is in motion and in percussion timbres full of tension. The viewer should be ready - not just music and dancing are waiting for him, but an attempt to comprehend the limits of human capabilities in real time.

The musical component of the physical performance is composed by Yanis Xenakis, a Greek composer and architect. Xenakis did the seemingly impossible: he composed music according to the laws of architecture and higher mathematics, embodying mathematical formulas into sounds! In his work, he used both "live" instruments and electronic ones. Also during the performance you will hear the work of Joseph Tompkins, a faithful follower of the pioneer of electronic sound Edgar Varese.

The world premiere of the physical drama "Okho" took place in December 2023.
