About event
Ballet “The Pygmalion Effect” Boris Eifman is a unique experiment in the comedy genre. The performance, which will be shown at the Perm Academic Theatre, is the first such experience in recent years for Eifman.
Boris Eifman continues to find inspiration in the world's cultural heritage and offers viewers his ballet interpretation of the archetypal story of a sculptor who falls in love with the statue he created. In the play, the main role is played by a talented choreographer who decides to transform a clumsy girl from the urban lower classes into a virtuoso artist. The heroine's transformation takes place to the sounds of music by Johann Strauss the Son, with whom Eifman is working for the first time in his career.
Boris Eifman, studying the human soul, found the basis for the name of the play in psychology. The concept of the “Pygmalion effect” means that expectations can influence reality. If a person is perceived by others as talented, then he will have self-confidence and achieve success.
In this performance, Eifman explores the amazing plasticity of personality, which can change in accordance with expectations and dreams. This is art and philosophy, which find their expression in the play “The Pygmalion Effect”.
