The House of Scientists of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences is not just a cultural and educational institution, but the true heart of the Novosibirsk Akademgorodok. Situated on Morskoy Prospekt, 23, it is an architectural monument of regional significance and one of the most significant public buildings in the city. Since its opening in the spring of 1966, the House of Scientists has attracted attention with its unique architecture and rich history.
The site consists of three main functional blocks. The two-storey "club" building includes a cozy restaurant, a Small Conference Hall, club rooms and a magnificent winter garden with more than 150 plant species. The special decoration of the garden is the Ficus obtusifolia and stylized chairs made from tree stumps from the shores of the Ob Sea, created by the artist V. P. Sokol.
The "hall" block-building impresses with its Large Hall for 1000 seats, a rehearsal hall, a foyer with a buffet and a cloakroom. The walls of the foyer are decorated with wooden carved panels on the theme of "Science in Siberia", also works by V. P. Sokol. For art lovers, there is an exhibition hall, which is located on the first floor of a two-story building connecting the Large and Small Halls.
The sports block-building, adjacent to the "club" building on the park side, offers a hall for game sports, a ballet hall and a sports hall measuring 18x30 meters. There is also a Music Salon for 50 people and a library with a collection of 30,000 copies, including books autographed by famous writers and poets.
