On August 21, 2025, the long-awaited opening of the international music festival "New Wave" will take place in Kazan, in the concert hall "New Wave Hall"

The initiators of the festival were famous Russian composers Igor Krutoy and Raimonds Pauls. At that time, the original Jurmala competition ceased to exist, and was replaced by the "New Wave". The victory at the first festival was won by the Russian duet "SMASH!!", consisting of Vlad Topalov and Sergey Lazarev. Now Sergey Lazarev is not only a member of the jury of the competition, but also performs as an honorary guest. Over time, the festival moved from Jurmala to Sochi and is now ready to begin a new chapter in its history in Kazan.
