The Yevgeny Vakhtangov Theatre invites everyone to a fascinating journey through the pages of Nikolai Gogol's Dead Souls
In Ivanov's production, reality and Gogol's phantasmagoria are intertwined into a single stream. The action unfolds rapidly, as if drawing the audience into a mesmerizing dance. There is no room for boredom: from the first minutes, the audience finds itself in a whirlwind of fast-paced theatrical action that captivates and does not let go until the very end.
The director offers a fresh look at Gogol's work, revealing unexpected facets of his talent to the public. Under Ivanov's direction, the theater stage turns into a space for deep reflection and powerful emotional experiences - a kind of visual "philosophical cabinet".
The central place in the performance is occupied by outstanding actors Maria Aronova and Vladislav Gandrabura. Their skill allows them to create an amazing variety of characters - from dramatic to grotesque. This duet creates a unique fusion of comedy and tragedy, where laughter and tears are intertwined. Each image is distinguished by the richness of acting techniques and the depth of emotions.
Despite the fact that there are only two actors on stage, the production amazes with its spectacle and technical ingenuity. The director and the team of set designers actively use a variety of stage techniques, the play of light and shadow, which gives the performance a special lightness and airiness. This allows us to convey the richness of Gogol's text without a sense of heaviness.
The performance "Dead Souls" at the Vakhtangov Theater is a bold, dynamic and deeply philosophical rethinking of the classics. Here, the director's concept, the highest level of acting and modern stage solutions are combined to give the viewer not just a theatrical performance, but a vivid emotional and intellectual experience.
The show will take place on June 22, 2025 at 19:00. You can buy tickets on our website!
