About event
On December 28, the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory will present a New Year's program to the public featuring the musicAeterna orchestra and conductor Teodor Currentzis.
Tickets for the concert of Teodor Currentzis and musicAeterna: "Ravel, Respighi, Rubinstein" will give you an unforgettable evening and pleasure from the virtuoso performance of works by great composers of the last century.
The pre-New Year's program of the musicAeterna orchestra features three "Rs", three great musicians: Rubinstein, Ravel and Respighi. This trio symbolically echoes the three "Bs" of classical music: Bach, Beethoven and Brahms - three great musicians whose names have become legendary in the history of music. There is no direct connection between these three "Rs", but the authors combined them into a single program, as musicians who left their bright mark on the history of Russia. Anton Rubinstein is a virtuoso pianist, a representative of Russian musical culture. Maurice Ravel and Ottorino Respighi are representatives of a new generation: impressionists, free from traditional forms and opening up new horizons of musical thought, faced with the tragedy of the First World War.
Anton Rubinstein's Fourth Piano Concerto, which premiered in 1864 and is still performed in various concert halls around the world, is a great phenomenon of world musical culture. Musicians, critics and listeners simultaneously evaluate it as an outstanding work that combines passion, melancholy and melody.
Ravel will present the legacy of his music through Suite No. 2 from the ballet "Daphnis and Chloe" and the choreographic poem "Waltz" for orchestra. The second suite includes three parts: "Dawn", "Pantomime", "General Dance", which together describe the magic of nature, freeing itself from darkness and accepting a new day. Created in 1920, but conceived in 1906, Ravel's "Waltz" is the apotheosis of the Viennese waltz, combined with a fantastic and fatal whirlwind, according to the composer himself.
The symphonic poem by the Italian composer Ottorino Respighi "Pines of Rome", the second part of the "Roman Trilogy", including "Fountains of Rome" and "Roman Festivities", will be performed in the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory. When performing this musical composition, you will go on a fascinating journey through time and space, discovering the luxurious gardens and villas of the Borghese, the Janiculum Hill, the legendary Appian Way, a modern Italian city and the mysterious catacombs of ancient Christians.
