About event

The theatrical production “Solo for a striking clock” will take place on the stage of the Mossovet Theatre.

In 1972, Oswald Zahradnik, a Slovak playwright who graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology, wrote the play “Solo for a Chiming Clock.” In a smart, kind and heartfelt story, the author appeals to the mind and heart of the viewer. It talks about the painful topic of parents and children, the loneliness of old people and different perceptions of life. The play was immediately translated into Russian and performed on stage.

The performance evokes deep feelings of emotion, nostalgia and light sadness, and prompts reflection on the fate of man

The story tells of “young” old people who like to gather at the home of their friend Frantisek Abel on weekends. Friends live in a nursing home, and only Frantisek lives in his own house. The company indulges in the memories of long-gone youth, and this unites them and brightens up the joyless old age. It would seem, what to grieve about if not the past years? Everyone has their own secrets and stories that they never lived, but continue to carefully store in their memory and suitcases. This could have ended there, but Abel has a grandson, Pavel, who wants to marry the beautiful girl Dasha. I want to be happy for the young and amuse the old man, but one “but” darkens the hearts of the couple and grandfather. The lovers really want to live in Frantisek's house and the desire is so great that they are ready to move the grandfather into the kitchen, or better yet, with friends, in a nursing home. The owner is against such a decision and refuses, because this house and joint evenings with friends are dear to him.

We offer to find out how this story ends, starring People's Artists of the Russian Federation Anatoly Vasilyev, Evgeny Steblov, Olga Ostroumova, Alexander Goloborodko.
