Description

In Russia, many grand sports facilities have been built that can surprise with their large size, ultra-modern design and advanced technical characteristics. One of them is Fisht, a unique stadium that opened in February 2014. It was in the arena of this grand sports facility that two ceremonies were held that were remembered by hundreds of millions of TV viewers: the opening and closing of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The giant futuristic structure, which can accommodate more than 41,000 people at a time, is located in the Adler area and, according to the international UEFA rating, belongs to the most prestigious, 4th category of sports stadiums. Today, the Fisht stadium has been converted into a football arena, where tens of thousands of fans will come in 2018 to cheer for their favorite team during the FIFA World Cup.

Fisht served as a venue for four group stage matches and two playoff matches. One of the latter was that fateful game for our team against the Croatian team. The fans, like the entire country, experienced a huge range of emotions.

Later, the arena became home to the relocated Dynamo football club, which was transformed into FC Sochi.

The stadium was named after Mount Fisht, one of the most famous mountains of the Caucasus State Biosphere Reserve. If you look closely at the outlines of the stadium, you will easily see that it was the snowy mountain peak that became its prototype.

The stadium has the traditional four stands, two side stands covered with translucent polycarbonate, and two end stands that are open. It is designed for 40,000 spectators for Olympic competitions, 45 for World Cup competitions, and 25 for lower-level competitions.
