The play “Varvara - beauty, long braid” at the Bryantsev Theater is a theatrical production based on the libretto by Evgeny Muravyov and the music of composer Vladimir Baskin. The plot of the play is taken from Vasily Zhukovsky’s fairy tale about Tsar Berendey, known from the Soviet film directed by Alexander Row. The story centers on Tsar Berendey, who, having gone on a long journey, makes a deal with Koshchei, unaware of the consequences for his newborn son.
