The play "Ghosts" is a new joint work of People's Artist of the RSFSR Svetlana Kryuchkova and director Roman Markholia on the stage of the Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater. The production is based on the play of the same name by Henrik Ibsen.

According to the creators, "Ghosts" is a parable about the tragedy of human existence, a story about the "dark abyss of a brilliant marriage."

The plot centers on the widow Helen Alving, who is preparing to open an orphanage in memory of her "ideal husband." However, the true motive for her decisions is hidden behind a veil of a terrible family secret.

Her beloved son Oswald returns to his parents' home from Paris. He keeps silent about the true reason for his return, just as Mrs. Alving hides the truth about her father from him.

The characters of the play are like puppets in the hands of ghosts of the past. They are trying to break out of the vicious circle, atone for their guilt, and break the chain of tragic repetitions. But is a person really capable of controlling their destiny? And what awaits him when the truth finally comes to light?
