The play "Shatuny" at the Baltic House Theatre-Festival is a striking example of experimental theatre, where young directors under the direction of Anatoly Praudin bring bold and relevant ideas to life on stage. Rinat Kiyakov's production, created as part of the Experimental Stage. Plus project, explores the eternal questions of human existence and the desire to learn the "ultimate secret".
The characters in the play "Shatuny" resemble maximalist teenagers for whom earthly comfort is not enough. They are eager to unravel the mysteries of the universe, but they encounter insurmountable barriers that life puts before them. The questions "Rus', where are you rushing to?" and "Am I a trembling creature or do I have the right?" become the central themes around which the action unfolds. The heroes, not finding answers, continue on their way, encountering the unknown and the inevitable.
An American critic once noted: "The world is not ready to read this novel. And I would not want to live in a world that would be ready to read this novel." Perhaps the time of "Shakuny" has already come, and the audience is ready for a deep dive into Mamleev's philosophical reflections. The play invites everyone to think about the fact that in every person there is a particle of goodness that can be awakened.
Don't miss the opportunity to see this production at the "Baltic House". Buying tickets on our website is your chance to touch art that makes you think and rethink many aspects of life.
