The play "Mozart and Salieri" on the Second Stage of the G. A. Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater invites viewers to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a dramatic conflict based on the work of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. Directed by Alexandra Tolsheva, the production is part of the Experiments in Dramatic Studies project, which brings together young directors in an effort to rethink classical texts.
The Second Stage of the BDT, located in the heart of St. Petersburg, provides a unique opportunity for experimentation and new interpretations. It is a contemporary space where tradition and innovation meet to create a unique theatrical experience.
Alexandra Tolsheva’s production explores the eternal themes of envy, genius, and tragic choice, inviting viewers to reflect on the nature of creativity and the human soul. Other young directors involved in the project include Arseny Bekhterev with Feast After the Plague and Arseny Meshcheryakov with The Stone Guest, making Experiments in Dramatic Studies a multifaceted and exciting event.
