The Overcoat M in Saint Petersburg, Lakhta Hall (ex. MTS Live Hall)

The play "The Overcoat M" in Lakhta Hall is a dance drama that connects two time periods and two love stories. The plot is based on Gogol's famous story "The Overcoat", where an official encounters his first great love and loses the object of his passion. One hundred years later, director Vsevolod M decides to stage a play about this event, which becomes the basis for Yuri Smekalov's production.

In Yuri Smekalov's play, the story of Akaky Bashmachkin echoes the life of Vsevolod, who experiences late love and is fascinated by a new method of working with actors - "biomechanics". The combination of live music, dance and words allows us to more deeply reveal Akaky's feelings and offer an ending filled with hope for a second chance. The play aims to show that every person can overcome their inner weaknesses and find a new meaning in life.
