Little May has an unusual ability to sense gold underground, which causes him to be kidnapped. Sister Marta sets off on a long journey in search of her brother, and this epic lasts more than ten years.
During her adventures, Marta meets many people and experiences many trials. One of the key moments of her journey is meeting the scientist Orlando. He makes an important discovery: the whole world is a single organism, connected by the inseparable laws of nature. Orlando teaches Martha that all people should live in friendship and love, because they are connected to each other.
The plague epidemic takes Orlando's life, but his soul is reborn in the adult May, whom Martha finally finds. May has lost his ability to find gold, but together with his sister, he finds more important truths in life. Embodying the dream of flying over hopelessness and grayness that Orlando once told Martha, the brother and sister find their true purpose.
