The operetta "Count Luxembourg" at the Musical Comedy Theater (St. Petersburg) is a bright musical performance that continues to win the hearts of audiences. Written by Franz Lehár four years after his famous "Merry Widow", this operetta was first staged on November 12, 1909 at the Vienna Theater an der Wien. In Russia, the first production of "Count Luxembourg" took place in the winter of the same year at the St. Petersburg Theater "Winter Buff".
The plot of the operetta unfolds against the backdrop of the carnival in Paris. At the center of events is the studio of the artist René von Luxembourg, who, despite his title of count, lives among bohemians. The singer Angèle Didier, the idol of all Paris, is going to marry the old prince. However, the prince, trying to avoid a misalliance, offers René a deal: the count marries Angèle incognito, receives a large sum of money for this and immediately divorces, granting her the title of countess. Thus, the prince will be able to marry a lady from high society. Everything goes according to plan until Cupid intervenes and pierces the hearts of René and Angèle, causing them to fall in love with each other.
The production of "Count Luxembourg" at the Musical Comedy Theatre (St. Petersburg) promises to be an unforgettable event, full of bright costumes, magnificent music and exciting acting. This performance is a great opportunity to enjoy a classic operetta in a modern performance.
