About event
The play "Living Pictures of the Siege" is a special event, which is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade. The author of the script and director of the performance is Igor Konyaev, and the scenography and costumes were designed by Daria Zditovetskaya. Important scientific advice was provided by Elena Solomakha, and the executive producer was Margarita Piantina.
The play is based on real documentary testimonies of the inhabitants of the Siege of Leningrad, mainly the museum staff. It tells the story of the enormous mission that the Hermitage staff carried out during the siege. They preserved exhibits every day, transported the collection to Sverdlovsk, took care of children in the Hermitage boarding school, helped the wounded and gave lectures on art.
At the premieres of "Living Paintings of the Siege" the audience will be able to plunge into the history of the heroic city and feel the pictures of the personal destinies of the people who saved the Hermitage for us. Our predecessors experienced anxieties and joys, they believed in love and hope, despite the difficulties of the blockade.
