Under the direction of Leonid Trushkin, the play "Johnny and Barry", based on the work of Norma Foster, was staged. In it, the viewer will be able to see five days of summer through the eyes of old people who ended up in a nursing home. The scenes take place in a playground near a river, which symbolizes the cyclical nature of life. In the beginning, everyone plays on the playground as children, and then they return there with their grandchildren. The play demonstrates the conflict between generations and shows how thinking changes throughout life. Young people do not understand the claims of old people, but then they themselves become parents and accuse them of negligence in relation to their health.
The author’s goal was to convey the idea that inside each of us there remains a little naive and kind child. Despite the years that have passed, there is room in everyone’s soul for new experiences. The main task of every person is to respect the desires and aspirations of their loved ones, to allow them to act as they themselves want. It is important to remember that each person is individual and has the right to personal space, so the main thing is how he feels, and not how others want him to be. Maybe he is ready to spend the rest of his days within four walls to please his loved ones, or maybe he still lacks new experiences.
The main roles in the play were played by Fyodor Dobronravov (Johnny), Gennady Khazanov (Barry) and Alexandra Rozovskaya/Daria Makarova (Rosie).
