The operetta "Cabaret for Gourmets" at the Musical Comedy Theater (St. Petersburg) is a unique performance created by the famous artist and choreographer Gali Abaydulov. The concert performance on the small stage of the theater combines literary plots and musical numbers inspired by the atmosphere of the cabaret of the early 20th century.

The "menu" of the performance includes works by such authors as Anton Chekhov, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Mikhail Zoshchenko, Arkady Averchenko, as well as musical compositions by Alexander Vertinsky and Pyotr Leshchenko. Spectators will be able to enjoy famous numbers such as "Bagels" and "Blue Ball".

The action unfolds around five characters: Reasoner, Bon Vivant, Grand Coquette, Simpleton, and Ingenue. They perform skits and musical numbers in luxurious interiors, discussing the menu of St. Petersburg restaurants from the beginning of the last century.

The first act includes "Czardas" by Vittorio Monti, intimate songs by Iza Kremer, a heart-rending romance by Boris Borisov and a melodeclamation by Dmitry Bogemsky. The audience will also hear a fable by Anton Chekhov and scenes from the works of Arkady Averchenko, Mikhail Zoshchenko and Nikolai Agnivtsev.

In the second act, the action moves to a new era after the revolution. Despite the changes in the country, Bon Vivant and Simpleton continue to enjoy life. The Resonator sets a sad tone, and with him, the outstanding Russian writers and musicians of the beginning of the century: Vladimir Mayakovsky, Arkady Averchenko, Mikhail Zoshchenko, Isaak Dunaevsky, Konstantin Vaginov and others.
