The director was sure that the combination of Ivanova and Dobronravov on stage would lead to a magical connection and ignite a spark between the characters. They are outstanding actors in both comedic and dramatic roles. Although they sometimes argue in rehearsals, they each have their own experiences, stories, joys and problems. That's why they were able to put a piece of themselves into the author's characters.
