The musical "Alice and Wonderland" by Gleb Matveychuk is a long-awaited performance for family viewing at the Musical Comedy Theater. However, fans of Lewis Carroll's work should not expect a retelling of the famous plot. In this production, everything is not as it seems at first glance.

The popular Russian actor, musician and producer Gleb Matveychuk wrote the musical "Labyrinths of Sleep" based on Carroll's fairy tale in 2018, and in 2021 he himself staged it in one of the Moscow theaters. In this version, familiar characters - Alice, the Hatter, the Rabbit and the Red Queen - make a time leap from the 19th century to the 21st, leaving almost their entire absurdist background to literary scholars.

As in the famous screen versions of Alice in recent years, the twists and turns of the fairy tale serve only as a starting point for free fantasy on the theme of self-knowledge and acceptance of the world around us. The characters retain their names, but the magic has been replaced by the wonders of science and technology of the fast-paced millennium. The bright characters, in which young viewers can easily determine which of the characters is “good-bad-evil”, and adults can guess the allusions to contemporaries, retain both Carroll’s irony and his taste for parody.
