Onyx in Rostov-on-Don, Crop Arena (ex. Arena Hall)

On July 19, a concert by Onyx, an American hardcore rap group formed in 1988, will take place at the Krop Arena (ex. Arena Hall). The original lineup of the group included Fredro Starr, Suave and Big DS, and Sticky Fingaz joined in 1991.

Onyx have released 11 studio albums, one collaboration and one mini-album. Eight of their singles reached the top ten on the Billboard charts. Their debut album Bacdafucup, released in 1993, is considered the best-selling rap album of its time. It topped the US charts and was certified platinum. This album featured their most successful single, "Slam", which is still considered one of the most commercially successful singles in hip-hop history.

Onyx is considered one of the most influential and successful groups in the history of hip-hop. In 1993, Billboard magazine placed them at number one on the Hot Rap Artists chart. They have also been nominated at various music awards, such as the American Music Awards and The Source Hip Hop Music Awards, and won Best Rap Album. at the 1994 Soul Train Music Awards.

The group members made significant contributions to hip-hop culture. They brought new techniques to hip-hop, such as slamming, dark songwriting, head shaving, and stage diving.
