The playoffs are the most spectacular, intense and interesting part of the KHL hockey season, where every mistake threatens the clubs with elimination. This is the home stretch on the way to the main trophy of the Kontinental Hockey League - the Gagarin Cup.
Only the strongest clubs with the maximum number of points in their conferences qualify for the playoffs. Their task is to overcome ¼, beating their rivals, get into the semi-finals and, accordingly, reach the final, where the name of the winner will be determined.
Based on the results of the final matches of the qualifying part of the tournament, which lasts from October to February, the names of the clubs that will compete for the cup are determined. There are 8 teams each from the Western and Eastern Conferences participating in the playoffs.

In the second round, the game is structured differently: the highest-seeded East team plays the lowest-seeded West team. The second seeded club from the East plays the third seeded club from the West - and so on. Based on the results of the second round, a new bracket for the semi-final games is formed. The teams will again be divided into two groups, within which the semi-finals will take place.
