Description
Muse are an English rock band formed in 1994 in Teignmouth, Devon. The band consists of three talented musicians: Matthew Bellamy (vocals, guitar, keys), Chris Wolstenholme (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Dominic Howard (drums, percussion). During their career, Muse have won the hearts of millions of fans around the world and have become true icons of modern rock music.
The band's debut album, Showbiz, was released in 1999 and immediately attracted the attention of the public due to Bellamy's unique falsetto and melancholic style of alternative rock. The second album, Origin of Symmetry (2001), demonstrated broader instrumentation and influences from the music of the Romantic era, which earned the band a reputation for energetic and unforgettable live performances.
With each new album, Muse continued to experiment and expand their musical horizons. Absolution (2003) featured string arrangements, Black Holes and Revelations (2006) introduced electronica and pop elements, and The Resistance (2009) and The 2nd Law (2012) explored themes of state oppression and civil uprising.
In 2015, Muse released the concept album Drones, which topped the Billboard 200 in the US, and their eighth album, Simulation Theory (2018), was inspired by science fiction and the simulation hypothesis. The band's latest album, Will of the People (2022), combined many of the genres and themes from their previous work.
Muse have won numerous accolades, including two Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, five MTV Europe Music Awards and eight NME Awards. In 2012, they received the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Novelists. As of June 2016, they have sold over 30 million albums worldwide.
