Ranked 54th in the FIFA rankings is the Mali national team, known among fans as the "Eagles." This team is considered one of the leading teams on the African continent, rounding out the list of the best national teams. Since its founding in 1962, the Mali national team has achieved significant success. Their highest achievements at the African Cup of Nations include silver medals in 1972 and bronze medals in 2012 and 2013. In 2004, the team competed in the Athens Olympics and reached the quarterfinals. However, they have not yet qualified for the World Cup.
The core of the team consists of players who compete in leading European leagues. Among them are defensive midfielder Yves Bissouma from Tottenham, Amadou Haidara, who previously played for Lens and Leipzig, as well as players such as Moussa Djenepo, Diady Samassekou from Hoffenheim, and striker El-Bilal Toure from Atlant.
