Max Holloway is an American mixed martial artist currently competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the featherweight division. He is a former UFC featherweight champion and former BMF title holder. Holloway is currently #2 in the official UFC featherweight rankings and #9 in the lightweight division. He is also #10 in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings.
On December 10, 2016, Max Holloway knocked out Anthony Pettis at UFC 206 to win the interim UFC featherweight title. On June 3, 2017, at UFC 212 in Brazil, Holloway knocked out champion Jose Aldo in the 3rd round to win the UFC featherweight title. On December 3 of the same year, at UFC 218 in Detroit, Holloway had a rematch with Aldo and knocked him out again in the third round, defending the championship belt.
On December 9, 2018, at UFC 231 in Toronto, Holloway faced undefeated challenger Brian Ortega. The champion dominated throughout the fight, and the fight was stopped by the doctor after the 4th round, which allowed Holloway to defend the title again. On April 13, 2019, Max Holloway faced Dustin Poirier for the interim UFC lightweight championship, but lost by unanimous decision.
On July 27, 2019, Holloway defended the UFC featherweight championship against Frankie Edgar. However, on December 15 of the same year, he lost the title in a fight with Alexander Volkanovski. On July 11, 2020, a rematch took place, in which Max lost by split decision.
