Description
Football club OFK Belgrade is one of the most historically significant teams in Serbia. Founded in 1911 under the name BSK, the club was able to win five national championships of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The team subsequently became known as Metalats, but in 1950 they returned to their original name - BSK. However, in order to attract more fans, especially young people, the club changed its name again to OFK Belgrade in 1957.
OFK Belgrade has always been among the best teams, but was in the shadow of the more famous Belgrade clubs. However, this does not detract from his achievements and significance. The team won the Yugoslav Cup in 1953, 1955, 1962 and 1966, and also became the country's vice-champion twice. OFK Belgrade has always presented attractive and entertaining football, which is why it received the nickname “Romanticari” - Romantics.
The team also has an impressive history in European competitions. OFK Belgrade participated in the European Cup eight times, reaching the semi-finals of the Cup Winners' Cup in the 1962/63 season. There they fought with the future winner of the trophy - the English club Tottenham Hotspur. The team also managed to defeat such famous clubs as Napoli, Feyenoord, Panathinaikos. and Juventus.
