BC Lokomotiv-Kuban

Basketball club "Lokomotiv-Kuban" — is a club from Krasnodar and one of the leading clubs in the VTB United League.  

Founded in 1946 in Mineralnye Vody, the club has come a long way, transforming from a team of railway workers into a professional team that is today known on the international stage. The first trainers, Grigory Abugov and Nikolai Kharchenko, laid the foundation for future success by training railway school students.

Until 1994, Lokomotiv He played in the lower leagues of the USSR and Russia, but in 1994 his rise began. This year the team entered the Russian Championship's Top Division, and already in 1997 it made its debut in the Super League, taking 6th place. In 2000, the club won the Russian Cup, and in the 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 seasons it became the bronze medalist of the Russian Championship.

The 2002/2003 season was the last for the club in Mineralnye Vody. After this, it was decided to move to Rostov-on-Don, where, under the leadership of the new general manager Andrei Vedishchev, the club continued its successful performances. In 2009, on the initiative of the president of the Russian Railways company Vladimir Yakunin, the club moved to Krasnodar. This decision was due to the new requirements of the Russian championship and European club tournaments.

Today Lokomotiv-Kuban — This is not only the main team, but also the SSHOR-Lokomotiv-Kuban farm club, which provides an influx of young talents. The club regularly participates in the playoffs of the national championship and plays in European cups, demonstrating a high level of play and professionalism.
