FC Baltika Kaliningrad

FC Baltika, a famous team from Kaliningrad, has a rich history and impressive achievements. Founded in 1954 under the name "Pishchevik", it changed its name to "Baltika". after 4 years and hasn’t changed it since then.

During the 90s of the last century, under the leadership of coach Korney Shperling, “Baltika” has achieved significant success. The team became the leader of the First League and even won it, leaving their rivals behind. Three seasons in a row "Baltika" was a member of the Major League.

One of the achievements of the Kaliningrad team was its performance in the 3rd round of the Intertoto Cup. However, in 1997 the team decreased its performance and left the elite of Russian football.

For more than 10 years, the team has failed to achieve significant results due to a weak roster, constant changes of coaches and insufficient funding. At that time, the team was either sliding to the bottom of the standings or returning to the first division.

In the early 10s, "Baltika" hampered by financial problems that prevented it from entering the Premier League. The situation was further complicated by personnel losses.

However, in the 2014/2015 season "Baltika" was able to maintain her place in the FNL. In subsequent years, the team teetered on the verge of relegation from the FNL. The club currently ranks 16th in the FNL.
