Rondo

Rondo is a rock band that began its creative activity in Moscow back in 1984. A few years after their formation, they released their first successful album called «Turnips». The group played in the New Wave style, presenting instrumental jazz-rock compositions on stage.

Great musicians and a succession of vocalists and keyboardists have surrounded Rondo over the years. In 1987, after a change in composition, their main composer Mikhail Litvin decided to go to the USA, but his musicians continued to perform under the same name. The group was led by Alexander Ivanov, and in 1989 they went to Japan to take part in the Armenia Aid festival. All proceeds from this event were directed to help victims of the earthquake in Armenia. It was there that the group first demonstrated their talent, making their mark on the international stage with the album «Rondo in Japan.» (1990).

After this, Rondo toured extensively, winning American and Japanese fans. They gave concerts in Bulgaria, Poland and Lithuania. In 1993, work began on the album «Welcome to Paradise,» and in 1995 the collection «Best Ballads» was released, which collected the brightest songs of the group. In 1996, Rondo celebrated their 10th anniversary with a concert at the Moscow Youth Palace, where their friends from Gorky Park were also invited.

Alexander Ivanov began his solo career in 1997, but continued to perform with the group. In 1998, at the State Central Concert Hall «Russia» a presentation of the disc «Past-Live» took place, recorded during Rondo’s anniversary concerts with the participation of «Gorky Park».

In 2003, the group released the album «Coda». A few years later, Alexander Ivanov announced the breakup of the group and focused on his solo career. However, two years later he revived Rondo, and now all concert posters are marked as «Alexander Ivanov and the Rondo group.»
