HC Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod

HC "Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod" is a professional hockey club that has been playing in the Kontinental Hockey League since its founding. Over the years of its existence, the club has shown excellent results, delighting its fans with bright battles against the strongest KHL teams. At that time, such famous hockey players as Viktor Konovalenko, Igor Shichkov, Valery Kormakov, Vyacheslav Zhidkov, Boris Nemchinov, Igor Chistovsky played for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. The team coach was Dmitry Boginov.

During the 1960-1980s, the team regularly showed excellent results, entering the leading group several times. In 1983 and 1985, “Torpedo” received the “Thunderstorm of Authorities” prize for the maximum number of points won against the winners of the USSR championship. At that time, the team's hockey players were often invited to the national team.

In 2008, the Kontinental Hockey League was created, and Torpedo immediately received an invitation to it. During all the years of playing in the KHL, the team has never left the league, always occupying a high place in the standings. Torpedo's most significant achievement in the KHL is reaching the quarterfinals of the 11/12 season, where the team lost to Dynamo Moscow with a score of 2:4. This achievement was repeated in the 15/16 season, when Torpedo lost to CSKA with a score of 1:4.
