Buy tickets to the concert "Lamentations and hymns" The Moscow Ensemble of Contemporary Music is worth it to anyone who is interested in works that are far from the status of "classical".
The first hero of the evening will be Arthur Lurie, a man of amazing destiny, who was ahead of his time in many ways with his writings. An under-educated pianist, composer, writer who lived in the Russian Empire, the USSR, Europe and the USA, a friend of the main characters of the Silver Age: Akhmatova, Mayakovsky, Velimir Khlebnikov, he brought to music a passion for experimenting with microchromatism and atonality. But this time the ensemble will perform "The Lament of the Virgin" – an old French song translated into Russian by Mikhail Kuzmin, the first master of free verse in our country.
Acquaintance with the cycle of hymns by Alfred Schnittke will be another opening of this concert. As the composer himself said, "These are hymns not in the sense of praises and chanting something, but spiritual hymns." The evening will end with an introduction to the play by composer Alexei Sysoev "Sirotinushka". Alexey Sysoev is one of the brightest and most original composers of our century. He is the author of the vocal cycle "The Poet's Love", the play "Sirotinushka" based on the folklore of the northern peoples, the opera series "Sverliytsy", as well as the original work Don't Whistle, Masha! ("Don't whistle, Masha!").
