The Belgian virtuoso musician, composer, teacher, and conductor was one of the most prominent figures in the world of violin music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

His playing was distinguished by expression, precision, and expressiveness. The violinist's skill was recognized by all the greatest composers of that time. A poem for violin and orchestra and a concert for violin, piano and string quartet by E. Chausson, a sonata for violin and piano by S. Frank, a string quartet by C. Debussy and many others were written for Ysaïe.

The composer wrote the sonatas in 1923, inspired by the impressions of Bach's works performed by Josef Szigeti. All six sonatas by him require extraordinary skill, perfect violin control, and acting talent from the musician.

The sonatas will be performed by violinist Olga Volkova, first concertmaster of the Mikhailovsky Theater Orchestra and concertmaster of the musicAeterna orchestra. Olga Volkova is a laureate of prestigious international music competitions, and has performed on the same stage with such musicians and conductors as Mstislav Rostropovich, Vladimir Ziva, Joshua Weilerstein, Justus Frantz.
