Immerse yourself in an atmosphere of elegance with "Mademoiselle Nitouche" at the Vakhtangov Theatre
The production of "Mademoiselle Nitouche," presented by the Vakhtangov Theatre, is a striking example of classic operetta, combining humor and musical masterpieces. This work offers audiences the opportunity to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of elegance and informality characteristic of the Vakhtangov stage.
Directed by Vladimir Ivanov, this production tells the story of a modest musician and teacher who secretly composes operettas, and a dreamy boarding school student who aspires to the theater arts. These live stage productions bring history to life once again before the audience's eyes.
The history of the production of "Mademoiselle Nitouche" begins in December 1944, when it was first presented on stage under the direction of Ruben Nikolaevich Simonov. Nikolai Akimov designed the costumes, and Nikolai Erdman wrote the text for the interludes. A key moment came on May 9, 1945, when the audience and actors went outside after the performance to watch the Victory Day salute.
For nearly two decades, the new version of "Mademoiselle Nitouche" has graced the Vakhtangov Theatre's repertoire and remains a popular attraction. Maria Aronova plays the role of the headmistress of the Heavenly Swallows boarding school, and Anatoly Menshchikov is Non-commissioned officer Loriot.
Since its premiere in 2004, the updated version of the play continues to delight both audiences and theatre professionals. The production won the "Star of the Theatre" Award in the "Highest-Grossing Performance of the Season" category in 2016.
