The Chekhov Moscow Art Theater invites you to the play "Once Upon a Time. There Was. A House."

The premiere took place in May 2025, and already in the fall, audiences will have the chance to dive back into this incredible world on the stage of one of Moscow’s most famous theaters. The production promises to become one of the main events of the theatrical season, combining deep drama, philosophical reflections, and elements of a fairy tale.

“Lived. Was. Home.” is not just a play, but a true “folk fairy tale for adults.” At the heart of the story are eleven tales, united by a common finale. The characters of the production — 24 individuals, including 18 people, 2 rats, 2 parrots, a cat, and a dog — all live under one roof. This structure is reminiscent of the fairy tale *Teremok*, but with a modern, profound meaning. Each story is a reflection on choice: whether to believe in love, friendship, fate, happiness, or even the existence of God.

The play makes the audience think about how we would act in everyday situations or when facing difficult trials if we knew our future in advance. The characters face moral dilemmas, experience joy and pain, doubts and hope. In this performance, every viewer will find something familiar and personal, as it speaks to every person in the audience.

The cast features stars of the Russian stage: Konstantin Khabensky, Igor Vernik, Irina Pegova, Artyom Bystrov, Pavel Chinarov, Kristina Babushkina, Pavel Vorozhcov, Maria Fomina, Alexandra Rebenok, Igor Kripunov, Ksenia Teplova, Anatoly Kot, Viktor Khorinyak, and other famous actors.

The production stands out with its modern scenography, live performances by the actors, and original direction that creates a unique atmosphere. The play lasts about two hours, immersing the audience in a deep dramatic story that combines both humorous and sad moments, relatable to anyone.

An interesting feature of the premiere was that the audience saw the performance in cinema before its official theatrical debut. This became a unique event in the history of the Moscow Art Theatre (MXT) named after A.P. Chekhov, highlighting the significance and popularity of the production.

Tickets for the play "Lived. Was. Home." can be purchased online. Don’t miss the chance to discover a world of philosophical reflections, warmth, and human destinies.
