The Moscow Art Theater Tour in St. Petersburg: Love Stories at the Oktyabrsky Grand Concert Hall
The Chekhov Moscow Art Theater will perform its "Love Stories" program at the Oktyabrsky Grand Concert Hall in St. Petersburg. This evening promises to be a true celebration for lovers of theater and classic literature. The program includes readings of stories by great Russian writers whose works have become iconic for the Art Theatre: Anton Chekhov, Maxim Gorky, Mikhail Bulgakov, Ivan Bunin, Alexander Kuprin, and Alexander Vampilov.
Each work is accompanied by specially written music by composer Kuzma Bodrov, adding a special atmosphere to the evening. On stage, the theatre's actors, accompanied by an orchestra, will tell stories of love—first love, unrequited love, happy love, and sacred love. These stories will come to life thanks to the skill of the actors and the musical accompaniment of the Moscow Soloists Chamber Ensemble under the direction of Yuri Bashmet.
The Oktyabrsky Grand Concert Hall is renowned for its superb acoustics and comfortable conditions for audiences. This is one of the most prestigious venues in St. Petersburg, where world-class concerts are regularly held.
The premiere of the evening was timed to coincide with the 70th birthday of Yuri Bashmet and became part of the program of the anniversary year in honor of the 125th anniversary of the Moscow Art Theater. The production was directed by Georgy Kovalev, who succeeded in combining literary masterpieces with music and theatrical art.
