This summer, the Great Moscow Circus on Vernadsky Avenue will host a significant event – the World Festival of Circus Arts “IDOL – 2025”
The Idol festival was founded in 2013 by the Zapashny brothers. Askold and Edgard wanted to create a platform for exchanging experiences and strengthening friendship between peoples. Every year, this event attracts renowned circus masters from all over the world: Russian dynasties, artists from China, Vietnam, Europe, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia and other countries. They bring their culture and skills with them to show them to the Moscow public. The festival has earned the status of one of the most prestigious in the world and provides a unique opportunity to see outstanding circus acts, appreciate the talent of performers and get acquainted with new directions in this art. "Idol" is the birthplace of new stars of the circus scene, where traditions are preserved and innovations are introduced.
The festival is organized by the Great Moscow Circus, which has everything necessary to hold such a large-scale event. Leading experts in the field of circus arts, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and other interested organizations are also involved in the preparation. The jury consists of three groups: recognized experts in the circus world, media representatives and spectators. The Golden Idol, Silver Idol and Bronze Idol prizes, as well as other awards, are sent annually with the participants to different parts of the world. Winning the festival symbolizes the artist’s high skill and opens up new career opportunities.
In 2025, the festival promises to be even larger and more impressive. The organizers plan to expand the program by including not only traditional genres, but also modern trends, such as circus theater and performance. It is not yet known who will be Edgard Zapashny’s co-host. Particular emphasis will be placed on the use of new technologies and visual effects to create a unique atmosphere and enhance the emotional impact on the audience – key features of the modern circus. The culmination will be a gala performance featuring the best troupes and solo performers from around the world. Spectators will see exciting acrobatic numbers, dizzying tricks, original clown skits and performances by trained animals. Each number will be a mini-performance with the national flavor of the participating country.
Tickets for the Idol festival at the Bolshoi Moscow Circus are in great demand, which underlines the high interest in circus arts and confirms the event's status as one of the most striking cultural events of the year.
