Concert “Laments and Hymns” in Perm: a unique musical event on June 28, 2024

On June 28, 2024 at 22:00 a unique musical event will take place in the Organ Hall of the Perm Regional Philharmonic – concert “Lamentations and Hymns” Moscow Ensemble of Contemporary Music. The Organ Hall of the Perm Regional Philharmonic is famous for its excellent acoustics and atmosphere, ideal for performing works of both classical and modern music. This evening, its stage will become a meeting place with the work of outstanding composers of the 20th century.

The Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble was created in 1990 under the leadership of Yuri Kasparov and Edison Denisov. The ensemble is known for its highly professional musicians who perform works from baroque to modern compositions. The main repertoire of the group includes works by Russian avant-garde artists, which makes their concerts truly unique.

The concert program includes “Lamentations and Hymns” works by such outstanding composers as Arthur Lurie, Alfred Schnittke and Alexey Sysoev will be performed. The evening will open with “The Lamentation of the Virgin Mary.” Arthur Lurie – a work based on a pious French song from the 12th century. Then guests will hear the hymns of Alfred Schnittke, created in the 70s and inspired by ancient Russian music. The concert will conclude with Alexey Sysoev’s play “The Orphan,” based on the folklore of the northern peoples and dedicated to the theme of loneliness.
